Milk and moving things along

As I poured milk on my cereal this morning, I was surprised and excited to notice that we will be married before this carton of organic skim milk expires! What an encouraging thought!

Things have of course been rolling right along with the to-do list. Most exciting, to me at least, is that a couple weeks ago I took my bridal portraits with the amazing Jason Cohen and his able assistant Ben Spell. I got to go get my hair all done up by my girl Danielle, and although the veil ended up slipping out a while later, bridesmaid extraordinaire Liz was able to re-attach it and it looked fabulous. I mentioned to Jason that I wanted to take a few pictures in my mom’s expansive yard and then we could head to another location of his choice. Well, we ended up staying in the yard the entire time and the pictures turned out fabulous! They were truly beautiful works of art! Unfortunately I can’t post them yet, but look for a few of them after the wedding!

We also met with Melissa one more time at Flowers Etc. to iron out the details of arrangements, bouquets, etc. for the wedding. From what we discussed, I’m so excited and I can’t wait to see what she creates! We met with the Kathleen Short one more time to finalize the cake details as well.

As far as invitations, I was expecting to buy a fancy pen and just use my best teacher script to address them, but my amazing mother has been diligently addressing them ALL herself in calligraphy. Every day, I am reminded of her awesome talents and her ever-ready willingness to help with all different aspects of the wedding! With the invitations going out in the next week or two, there is definitely no looking back, and I am so very excited about getting close!

The engagement and wedding annoucements have been written up to be submitted this week (although we are dangerously close to going over the word limit! Through some creative phrasing, we will dodge paying another $100 for a couple extra words). Look for announcements in Lafayette, Rayne, and Oakdale.

The last thing I THINK we have left to do (though I’m probably wrong) is the programs, which we have started working on. Being blessed with so many people involved in the ceremony has led to the need for creativity in the program wording. But, we are working on it. My ever-talented fiance’ swears he can fit everyone in on one sheet of cardstock and I am going to trust him!

Other than that, all we need are continued prayers as we prepare spiritually and emotionally for our marriage. As much fun as the planning has been, we are both so ready to start our life together as a married couple, and we need all the support and prayers we can get. Thanks to everyone who is keeping up with us through this process!
